“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”Absorb those words carefully. There was a time when I lacked the confidence in myself to truly pursue anything. I convinced myself early that I was made for & content with mediocrity- yet wondered why I never felt fulfilled. The thought of chasing a dream came with so much fear, mostly of failure. In years to come I would have two children. One day it occurred to me that they would have these same fears. What would I tell them without being a complete hypocrite? Further still, I imagined my children looking at me and realising I never dared to take on my own passions. “But Mum, why didn’t you?”There would only be one thing worse than “starting late” and that would be to never start at all. To have never tried or aimed high and live with regret. I may never reach the holy grail of my chosen passions- I accept now I don’t need to- but I will pour my heart and soul into them and see where it takes me. Losing some insecurities lead me to a place where I didn’t have an “end goal” instead set my heart on simply doing what I loved & enjoying every part that comes along with it. I have done CrossFit for almost 8 years now, the past 4 at elite level. When people see CrossFit they often see what the elite is doing and think to themselves that, “it’s too challenging”. ….. CrossFit is soo much more and it’s for everybody regardless of fitness level and ability. How often have I heard, “I want to try CrossFit but I just need to get fit first”. Nonsense!!We start CrossFit cause we want to get fitter and enjoy a better life quality.
