CrossFit Kids

3In the same manner as our adults classes CrossFit Kids & CrossFit teens workouts will consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive, general and scale-able for any participant at any level.
We’ll have kids program 5-12 yrs, teens 13-19 yrs with specialist coaching. We will divide our classes into the age groups over time to be the most suitable as we understand that some kids develop athletic skills faster than others. We will scale (up or down) our program accordingly so each child in the class has their classes matched to their ability.

What Does this mean?
This means that (for the most part) no two workouts are the same, so kids never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating. The whole time the focus is on fun whilst slowly introducing functional movements.

For kids, these functional movements involve exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play; pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of our Certified Trainers.

Our classes focus on mechanics and are based on long-term athletic development, we are always teaching proper movement patterns. This means no loads are introduced and intensity remains deemphasised until the child performs safe and efficient movement consistently.

Our methods are based on longstanding research in exercise science and allied fields, and we do our best to keep abreast of new research that can help us continue to refine our methods.

Regarding safety, we teach proper and safe functional movements in progressions that have a stepwise increase in difficulty designed to work over years. Our intention is to make children safer in their daily lives, such as when lifting a backpack or on the field of play when they have to run, cut, jump, etc.

Again, our focus is on movement; that is what we coach. A trainer never tells children to lift more or move faster, but always teaches them how they can move more safely and efficiently.
